Rates
Effective January 2008
All rates are based
on materials provided
to our specifications.
If alterations are required
or materials do not
conform to specifications,
then additional charges
may be applied based
on current commercial
rates. Quotations for
production charges are
available upon request.

E-GT
All advertisements
placed in the printed
version of Gear Technology
also appear in E-GT,
the electronic version,
at no extra charge.
CLASSIFIED
ADVERTISING INFORMATION
Classified advertising
rates include layout
and design by Randall
Publishing Inc., at
no extra charge. Blind
box numbers can be provided
for Help Wanted advertisements
for an additional $15
per insertion. Publisher
reserves the right to
refuse any advertisement
at his descretion. Full
payment is due with
each order. No agency
discount is allowed
on classifieds.
AGENCY
COMMISSION
A 15% commission will
be allowed on diplay
ads and Internet ads
if payment is made within
30 days of invoice.
No agency commission
or discount is allowed
on classified ads.
CREDIT
APPLICATIONS
Gear Technology will
gladly extend credit
to advertisers who qualify.
New advertisers will
be required to submit
credit applications,
which must be completed
and in our possession
five days prior to the
advertising close date
of the issue in which
the first advertisement
will appear. Prepayment
may be required if credit
has not been approved
before the advertising
close date.

DIGITAL
SPECIFICATIONS
Digital advertising
materials may be submitted
using only the following
file formats: Print-Ready
PDF, QuarkXpress, EPS
or TIFF (see additional
instructions below).
If digital advertising
materials are not in
one of these formats,
then we may be able
to convert the materials
to an appropriate format
for an additional service
fee. Ad materials must
be accompanied by a
list of all files, including
fonts and images, used
in preparing the ad.
PROOF
Digital ad materials
must be accompanied
by a printout of the
ad. Color ads must include
a name-brand color proof,
such as Chromalin®,
Matchprint®, Kodak,
Fuji, Rainbow/3M, etc.
We cannot match your
colors on press without
a proof.
PRINT-READY
PDF FILES
We can accept only high-resolution,
print-ready PDF files.

QUARKXPRESS
FILES
"Preferences"
file must be included
and "Collect for
Output" used to
gather all elements
in the file. All elements,
including fonts and
images, must be included
with the advertisement.
Include a B/W or color
hard copy. The hard
copy must be 100% and
tiled, if necessary,
to fit the entire page.
"Registration"
option must be selected
when printing so th
file prints with crop
marks, file name, date
and time. If printing
a hard copy for a color
ad on a B/W laser printer,
use the "Print
Colors as Grays"
option. Also, provide
a color-separated proof
indicating color breaks.
When using process colors,
select colors as CMYK
and as process separation.
All 4/C separated images
should be submitted
in CMYK format.
EPS
OR TIFF FILES
· Embed all fonts
in the EPS file. To
be safe, include the
font file separately
as well.
· Supply nested
EPS files.
· When using
process colors, select
colors as CMYK and as
process separation.
· All 4/C separated
images should be submitted
in CMYK format.
· All image files
should be a minimum
of 300 dpi resolution
at 100% size.
DIGITAL
MEDIA
Digital media will not
be returned unless specifically
requested. Disks, CD-ROMs
and other electronic
media will be kept until
after the issue is published,
at which time old media
will be discarded or
destroyed. Electronic
files will be kept on
our system for up to
one year.
AD
FILM-MECHANICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Consult publisher for
information about mechanical
specifications for ad
film.
BORDERS
All fractional-page
ads must have borders
on all sides.
TRIM
Book trim size
is 8" x 10 3/4
" (203 x 273 mm).
Keep all essential material
1/4" (6 mm) away
from edges.
BLEED
Bleed ads should
extend at least 1/4"
(6 mm) beyond the trim
size.
