Richard "Dick" Borelly died of CMV pneumonia on August 23. Borelly, 65, was senior principal engineer at Rockwell Automation-Dodge Gear Plant in Greenville, SC and had been in the gear industry for more than 40 years. He was born in Indianapolis, IN and attended Purdue University. In 1959, he started his career as a tool and die apprentice at Link-Belt. Seven years later, he moved to Indiana Gear Works Division in Indianapolis, IN, where he worked until 1974. Borelly became vice president of operations at LaMont Gear Co. in Norristown, PA in 1974. He was hired at Philadelphia Gear in 1976 as technical manager of gear manufacturing and later promoted to manager of quality control and technical processes. He stayed with Philadelphia Gear until 2000. In 2000, Borelly started at Rockwell Automation. In his spare time, Borelly enjoyed refurbishing old cars. On March 15, 2006, he underwent a liver transplant. Complications from the operation led to Borelly’s infection with pneumonia.
