The 27th ASM Heat Treating Conference and Exposition attendees were clear for takeoff at booth #1529. Ipsen offered visitors not only industry insights and heat treating solutions, but also a way to prove their paper airplane prowess. With over 2,000 people in attendance and a sold out exhibitor floor, the event provided a great opportunity for members of the heat treat community to connect and share ideas and expertise.
Participants in the aerodynamic challenge had two chances to win the grand prize iPads. Throughout the two days, entries were taken for a series of mini-challenges including aerobatics and stunts, best crash and burn, best design and creativity, distance, flight time and skill and accuracy. Once submitting their planes for any of these challenges, participants were entered into a drawing for one of the iPad prizes. Our drawing winner was Jim Trapp from Rolls Royce. The second way attendees could win was by participating in the grand prize target toss, launched at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18. Our grand prize airplane toss winner was Larry Droddy from Bodycote, landing his plane closest to our Ipsen logo target.
Over the course of the two-day show, hundreds visited Ipsen's booth to inquire about product offerings, furnace maintenance best practices and much more. Ipsen Vacuum Product Manager, Mark Heninger, states, “This tradeshow allowed us to get back to basics and spend quality time with both existing and potential customers face to face and discuss the best solutions for their heat treating needs. We had a number of substantial conversations, promising partnerships and, overall, just had some fun.”
As a part of the show’s technical program, Ipsen’s metallurgical expert, Aymeric Goldsteinas, presented two technical sessions entitled “Redefining Quenching Technology” and “Bright Tempering: Achieving High Quality Appearance During Tempering.” The sessions had a great turnout and provided valuable takeaways regarding the latest developments in heat treating technologies. The 28th ASM Heat Treating Conference and Exposition will be held in Detroit, Michigan, on October 20-22, 2015.
