Sandvik Sponsors Program to Benefit Workshops for Warriors
November 19, 2013
In honor of Veteran’s Day, Sandvik Coromant recently sponsored a carbide recycling program to benefit the Workshops for Warriors (WFW) organization. With our customers, we were able to raise $42,000 and give WFW the resources necessary to complete a much-needed CAD/CAM lab. WFW is a San Diego-based, 501(c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to training, certifying, and placing veterans in manufacturing careers and is the only one of its kind.
"Thanks to Sandvik Coromant's generous donation, Workshops for Warriors will be able to complete repairs on our second CAD/CAM classroom which will allow us to triple our capacity to train Veterans and Wounded Warriors on CAD/CAM equipment,” states Hernán Luis y Prado, president of Workshops for Warriors. He continues, “Sandvik Coromant is Workshop's for Warriors partner of choice when it comes to tools, tooling solutions and know-how in the metalworking industry. We are very grateful to Sandvik Coromant and their customers who sent in their used carbide to make this possible and continue to allow America's Veterans and Wounded Warriors to train on the finest tooling in the world."
This new CAD/CAM lab will help these vets become better machinists as they improve their marketable skills in programming, design and computer integrated manufacturing (CIM). The training they receive will help them become more knowledgeable in all CNC operations and increase their technical understanding to yield better productivity and profitability.
