Hexagon Metrology announced the launch of the latest generation of the successful Leica T-Scan. At more than 15 times faster compared to the previous model, the Leica T-Scan 5 has almost double the stand-off distance, which results in more efficient data capture especially in difficult-to-reach areas. It is ideal for non-contact laser scanning for CAD-to-part inspections and reverse engineering applications and provides immediate feedback of critical features after design iterations. The Leica T-Scan 5 is typically used in applications within the aerospace, automotive, ship building, and earth-moving industries. It may also be employed for automation and robotic applications, where inspection processes benefit from maximum laser tracking and machine performance.
When used in conjunction with the Leica Absolute Tracker AT901, the Leica T-Scan 5 captures hundreds of millions of accurate points on virtually any surface, from a black matte to highly reflective, even carbon fiber without any special preparation. Higher scan rates allow greater feature recognition, smaller detail detection and much quicker scanning at an approved quality level on all surfaces and colors. The user’s experience is enhanced with a dual-color guide light and acoustic feedback.
“For years the Leica T-Scan has stood for reliability and accuracy in any shop-floor conditions. With no need of object preparation, the Leica T-Scan 5 system has never been as simple to install and to use,” states Michael Lettau, product manager for Hexagon Metrology.
