IMTS Preview: JTEKT Toyoda Americas Corporation
July 6, 2018
Combining lean thinking with cutting edge solutions, JTEKT Toyoda Americas Corporation plans to unveil six new machines of their 15 featured during IMTS 2018. Toyoda’s anchored position in the South Hall (#338519) will exhibit live machine tools, automation, IoT solutions, and innovative presentations. New machine exhibits include a 5-axis VMC for titanium machining, universal grinding machines with adjustable wheelhead, a multipurpose turning center with twin turret & twin spindle, and a production type machine for gear manufacturing.
Five-axis vertical machining with ability to achieve superior structural rigidity and precision of large parts can be found on Toyoda’s new UA2090Ti 5-Axis. The machine’s 2-axis tilting head, high torque A & B axes with gear driven design, and hybrid box and linear guideway construction will be shown off on Titanium and Hard Alloy components during IMTS 2018.
Designed for heavy cutting applications, the Stealth VB215 features powerful technology supported by Toyoda’s robust cast iron headstock and vibration dampening technology – giving Toyoda customers the competitive edge. A compact Z axis ram construction supports the VB’s 6,000 rpm high-performance geared-head spindle, providing stable milling and drilling operations.
Versatile, universal grinding machine with a manually adjustable wheelhead for straight and angular applications, the newly launched GL4i-50 Switch features 45-degree swivel increment for flexible grinding of smaller diameter journals. Faster cycle times and a reduced probability of burning on face grinds are a result of stabilized grinding from a reinforced new bed design and New Toyopuc-Touch control.
Gearing up for large part grinding applications, the GL4i-100 Switch is Toyoda’s latest universal grinding model with a 400 mm swing, increased part capacity and adjustable wheelhead for straight and angled configurations.
Coming off Toyoda’s GS300H win at the 2017 Automotive News PACE Awards, for its high-speed synchronization technology, Toyoda recently released its compact sibling, GS200H, targeting high production lines. Offering improved productivity and flexible machining by integrating gear part processes of a lathe, gear skiving and machining center capabilities in one.
Making its United States debut, the Takisawa Taiwan MX-800 multi-purpose turning center, is built for process integration and high productivity. Standard with heavy duty twin upper T15 turrets, built-in twin spindle and twin Y-axis, 2” bar capacity (up to 2.5”) and 8” chucks.
Among new product releases, are Toyoda’s latest production advancements in pursuit of the most efficient machining methods. Revolutionizing shop floors into smart factories, Toyoda takes the fundamental approach of IoT combined with their rich automotive production history to encompass what they call, IoE (Internet of Everything). IoE encompasses connectivity, data transmission and analytics of both people and machine – all fundamentals of Toyota’s “Andon” system.
