Engineering Solutions from esco Receive TOP 100 Award
July 20, 2021
The TOP 100 seal 2021 was recently awarded to esco GmbH. This seal is awarded to leading SMEs in innovation.
Prof Dr. Nikolaus Franke and his team assessed esco's innovative strength on behalf of compamedia, the TOP 100 innovation competition organizer. Researchers carried out this assessment using around 120 test criteria divided over five categories: innovation-promoting top management, innovation culture, innovative processes and organization, external orientation/open innovation and innovative success. At the core of these criteria is the question of whether innovation is a result of a systematic process or merely a product of chance. In other words: are a company's innovative achievements reproducible? The researchers also look at whether and how the respective solutions are received on the market. Due to the current situation, this year’s competition also featured a special section which examined how the company reacted to the coronavirus crisis.
"Our colleagues are innovators, through and through. With excellent professional expertise, a systemic attitude towards process chains and an unequivocal thirst for innovation, they work tirelessly in pursuit of set targets. And their success is reflected in an extraordinarily high number of repeat customers,” explains Marion Süßmilch, managing director.
The entire automotive industry – a key sector for esco – has been faced with some stark changes as a result of the mobility revolution. When it comes to emobility, the new recipe for success in flexible gearing is “power skiving.” “The most recent innovative success for esco is the development of a system solution for the design, production and QA of high-precision, high performance power skiving tools,” explains Kenneth Sundberg, member of the executive board for marketing and sales.
“The TOP 100 seal is awarded to those that demonstrate a high degree of innovative strength and above-average innovative success. We're proud to have been awarded the seal. This award represents recognition of the efforts of the entire esco team,” says Dietmar Ernst, managing director.
Franke, chief scientist for the TOP 100 award, is impressed by the outstanding SME. “The TOP 100 companies have been constantly striving towards being as innovative as possible,” he says.
And there will be one more occasion to celebrate later on in the year. On November 26, all award winners of the current TOP 100 will come together to receive the congratulations of Ranga Yogeshwar at the 7th Deutscher Mittelstands-Summit [German SME Summit] in Ludwigsburg, Germany. The scientific journalist has been supporting the innovation competition as a mentor for ten years.
