With the goals of increased flexibility and reduced maintenance in mind, GF Machining Solutions developed its next generation CUT S 400 Dedicated wire electrical discharge machine (EDM) that improves the overall production of aerospace jet engine turbine disks, in particular for cutting their fir tree blade patterns. With advanced features and capabilities, the new machine allows manufacturers to cut a wider range of turbine blade diameters and do so with fewer production interruptions due to typical EDM setup and maintenance issues.
Seventy years ago, the invention of Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) revolutionized worldwide manufacturing. AGIE and Charmilles pioneered this technology and remain world market leaders today under the umbrella of GF Machining Solutions, a company that is constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
To ensure all customers and their machines benefit from digital assistance, GF Machining Solutions (GFMS) has launched their new My rConnect platform engineered for the company’s EDM, milling, and laser texturing machines. The all-encompassing platform allows shops to connect any model of GFMS machine for fast, responsive, and easily accessible service and support while also providing expanded digital capabilities.
With the perfect balance of precision and productivity in mind, GF Machining Solutions launched the first model of its new CUT F Series of wire electrical discharge machines (EDMs) yesterday. The launch coincided with the grand opening of the company’s Medical Center of Competence. As the first of its kind, the new center provides manufacturers supplying the medical industry with comprehensive applications support along with world-class production technologies, one of which is EDM.
GF Machining Solutions (GFMS) and GF Piping Systems (GFPS) broke ground on the Apodaca, Mexico, joint headquarters late in 2019. Construction on the 75,000 square-foot facility is now complete, and company leaders are hosting a grand opening celebration.
Attend the grand opening of the GF Machining Solutions Medical Center of Competence taking place April 19 from 8:30 am–5:00 pm (lunch provided) at the company’s Lincolnshire, Ill., location.
The new iWire function from GF Machining Solutions automatically identifies and adapts wire speed to changing erosion height conditions during the wire EDM process. This capability eliminates wire breakage while reducing overall wire consumption per job, in some instances by as much as 29 percent.
