Nidec Machine Tool Corporation announced that the construction of a new factory that Nidec Machine Tool (Zhejiang) Corporation, a subsidiary of the Company, had been building in the city of Pinghu, Zhejiang Province, China, has been completed, and that the factory has launched its full-scale operation, on October 11. Constructed to establish a prompt machine tool supply system to meet China’s domestic needs for autos, robots, and industrial machines among others, this new, three-floor factory, whose first-phase construction started in March 2023, covers an area of approximately 66,000m², including an approximately 18,000m² first floor.

As of September 23, 2024, Havlik Gear is changing ownership. Wikov Industry a.s. has acquired Havlik Gear. Wikov is a strong group of companies producing high end gears, gearboxes and complete drives for industrial and turbo applications and for railway vehicles. The company name has changed to Wikov Gear Canada Inc.

The Timken Company, a global technology leader in engineered bearings and industrial motion, today appointed Tarak Mehta the company's president and CEO. Mehta was also elected to Timken's Board of Directors.

Effective October 1st, 2024, Alexander Steinacher will succeed Horst Rettenbacher as CFO at the long-established Austrian company. Rettenbacher has been a member of EMCO's management team since 2012 and, as CFO, played a key role in the machine tool manufacturer's growth to its current size. After handing over his responsibilities to his successor, Rettenbacher will take his well-deserved retirement.

Sumitomo Drive Technologies, a brand of Sumitomo Machinery Corporation of America, received the 2024 National Metalworking Reshoring Award. The award was given in recognition of Sumitomo Drive Technologies’ success in bringing manufacturing to the United States through foreign direct investment and to Mexico via nearshoring. The 2024 award was presented on Sept. 13, 2024, at IMTS – The International Manufacturing Technology Show at McCormick Place in Chicago by Harry Moser, founder and president of the Reshoring Initiative.
