Solar Atmospheres of Michigan, formerly Vac-Met, has recently purchased 18,000 square feet of plant space on four plus acres in Chesterfield Michigan. The new building is 20 miles Northeast of the two existing Vac-Met facilities which are currently located in Warren and Fraser Michigan.

Jergens announces that Matt Schron will add to his position as General Manager to now include Vice President. As an executive of the business—overseeing Workholding, Lifting and Specialty Fasteners divisions—Mr. Schron’s promotion allows for expedited execution of agreements and contracts that support the company’s key business initiatives.

At its meeting on December 20, the Annual General Meeting of ZF Friedrichshafen AG elected Rachel Empey, Dr. Feiyu Xu and Dr. Rolf Breidenbach as shareholder representatives on the company’s Supervisory Board. Their five-year term of office begins at the end of the Annual General Meeting in 2023.

VBN has always focused on hard and wear-resistant materials that are additively manufactured, and today offers four steels and one cemented carbide under the Vibenite brand. The tool manufacturer ANAJ Czech, a.s., which has tested components in said material, was so satisfied with the results that a license agreement has been signed to start manufacturing in-house. 

It is with great sadness we share the passing of Robert (Bob) Smith. Bob was a valued member of the AGMA Gear Accuracy technical committee, representing Gleason Works, where he worked as a gear engineer for 38 years. Also, since 1991, he was a Gear Technology technical editor.
