Schotte Systeme published a new video outlining how one single universal function has been designed to consolidate both 2D and 3D movement, rotation and scaling commands.
According to the company's press release, the aim is to simplify how users interact with 2-D and 3-D geometry. The universal MVEX function helps combine a large number of existing commands into one single tool. The geometry is first selected, afterwhich an axis from the onscreen symbol is chosen to move along, rotate around or scale in. Ensuring a high level of flexibility, objects can then be dynamically dragged, or alternatively adjusted along the axis using a specific distance, angle or scale factor. The software is specially designed to working on complex 3D assemblies containing parts that do not align to the normal XYZ planes.
The function automatically aligns the axis symbol to the parts orientation using either the part face/edge or a point. Users then just select the parts natural axis, and move/rotate/scale it regardless of where it is lying in 3D space.
