Pico Chemical Corp. announced a chlorine-free and blue cutting oil for hard-to-machine stainless and titanium alloys.
The Picocut Code Blue was developed to meet the growing demand for oils that can achieve accurate precision cutting, longer tool life and improved surface finishes in high speed machining centers without the environmental, cleaning and corrosion issues often associated with chlorinated paraffins.
According to the company's press release, Picocut Code Blue can improve tool life, reduce smoke, eliminate foaming, exhibit high oxidation resistance. The company hopes to replace both older technology cutting oils and water soluble fluids especially in severe applications typically found in medical and aerospace metalworking industries.
Picocut Code Blue is a multi-functional oil lubricant for a variety of material-removing and forming operations such as milling, drilling, reaming, threading, broaching, grinding, stamping and drawing. This oil offers improved lubricity, extreme pressure anti-weld performance, and anti-oxidation protection without the need for any tank side additives. It promises low misting, with low odor properties, and is formulated for elastomer compatibility.
Joe Manfreda, marketing serrvices manager at Pico Chemical, says, "Where we've had the most success with Pico Code Blue is in the medical and aerospace industries that require better finishes and longer tool life on hard and difficult-to-cut grades of titanium and stainless. The gear industry faces many of these many critical issues."
