Sam Haines, president of Gear Motions, joins Mike Barron, vice president/general manager, and some of the Oliver Gear employee owners, upon their recent, successful ISO 9001-2008 registration. Mark Bechteler, the Gear Motions manager of corporate quality and continuous improvement led the effort at Oliver Gear to rewrite their quality manual to sync up with the new ISO Standard. Mark reported that "the system was essentially in place at Oliver, it was simply a matter of getting what was already being done informally documented. In fact Oliver's quality metrics were very strong going into the program, and we simply needed to get people familiar with the ISO language, and procedures."
Oliver Gear traces its roots back 1892 when A.F. Oliver started a general machine shop, and in 1907 incorporated as Oliver Gear and Machine.
