The order for the two new TG 350E machines follows a number of other significant orders from China for the PTG Group, providing further evidence of the close links being forged by the company with the world's fastest growing economy. Most notable is a 30 m x 4 m gantry Crawford Swift Powerstir FSW machine, commissioned from PTG Heavy Industries of Elland, West Yorkshire in a joint project with China Friction Stir Welding Centre. This machine has played a significant part in manufacturing railway car bodies similar to those used in the Harmony high speed trainthat recently achieved a record speed for an unmodified passenger train of 486.1 km/hr or 303 mph. In fact, the machine has proved such a success that PTG Heavy Industries has now been commissioned to supply three additional FSW machines with a total collective order value of £1.2 million.
Incorporating the brands of Holroyd, Binns & Berry, Crawford Swift, PTG Heavy Industries and Precision Components, The Precision Technologies Group's range includes grinding machines for rotor, thread and gear operations and rotor milling machines and lathes producing ultra precision components to serve a wide range of industries from aerospace, marine and power generation to oil, gas, steel and high end automotive.
