A Tier One automotive supplier located in the Eastern Central region of the United States has purchased a new Walking Beam Furnace with ‘bottom' charge and discharge, along with a re-circulated air heated Tempering Furnace. Both units will be used in the processing of solid stabilizer bars. The walking beam furnace is designed to convey round, straight solid bars in a range of sizes up to 1.3" (33 mm) in diameter, lengths up to 78.7" (2,000 mm) and weights up to 28.6 lbs. (13 kg). The furnace has a maximum gross heating capacity of 4,620 lbs/hour (2,100 kg). The tempering furnace is designed to convey trays of round solid formed bars in a range of sizes up to 1.3" diameter (33 mm) and lengths up to 60.94" (1548 mm). The Walking Beam and tempering furnaces are similar to a previous installation purchased from AFC-Holcroft in 2005. Delivery is scheduled for the 4th quarter of 2012.
