Kapp Named North American Distributor for R&P Metrology

Kapp Technologies has announced it will be the distributor of Rauth-Pumm Metrology Equipment (R&P) for North America. Rauth-Pumm Metrology designs and builds gear metrology equipment, concentrating on medium and large parallel axis gears, bevel gears, tools, shafts, bearing rings and 3-D parts. The range starts at approximately 1.0 meter in size. Extended capacity requirements for large applications, and customizing are the specialty of R&P Metrology. R&P offers several hybrid systems that uniquely combine gear measurement with conventional CMM metrology. A retractable tailstock makes these hybrids a “no compromise” solution for the combined technology. The RPC 1000 /1300 (pictured) is a newly designed flexible solution for combining CMM, gear metrology and highly precise measurements of form deviations on ring type/cylindrical parts. R&P Metrology incorporates granite guideways with air bearing slides, a benchmark for the industry. Direct drive rotary tables provide the precision required for measuring large diameters. Proven electrical control and analysis software make this very familiar to users of the Wenzel GearTec systems. “Kapp Technologies and R&P Metrology share markets and philosophies,” says Hans Rauth, president of R&P Metrology, “We devote extra effort to produce special products to suit our customers’ demanding applications.” Bill Miller of Kapp Technologies sees the collaboration as a benefit to customers who need lab equipment to certify ground gears and other cylindrical parts. “The range of precision required for metrology is quite similar to that of gear grinders. In fact, the rotary workpiece table is of the same design,” Miller said, “Excellent service is a hallmark of Kapp Niles, and we will carry this forward in support of R&P Metrology systems in North America.” Support, service and sales for North America will be done by Kapp Technologies in Boulder, Colorado.
