July 29, 2019
Gleason-Hurth Tooling GmbH, Munich, Germany, with its 160 employees, develops and manufactures tools and workholding systems for cylindrical gears which are found on gear manufacturing machines of all brands. Gleason-Hurth products are utilized globally in many industries and diverse gear applications including the automotive, power tool and aerospace industry.
The expansion comes as a result of the strong business growth in recent years. The facility-wide modernization project adds 30% to office areas and increases manufacturing capacity by almost 70%, including the redesigned machining area for prototype manufacturing, gear manufacturing services, as well as research and development work. Other facility improvements include modernized training facilities, and assembly areas that have been optimized for more efficient production processes and digital production flows. Particular attention has also been given to the energy-efficient design of the building and the facilities, since a low carbon ‘footprint’ is a key component of the sustainability principles of Gleason Corporation.
Markus Stummbaum, managing director of Gleason-Hurth Tooling GmbH in Munich and Eisenbach, Germany, remarks during the opening celebration of the modernized plant: "The world is undergoing considerable change and e-mobility presents us with new challenges in the gearing industry. Through modernization, we are "fit for the future" and can optimally support our customers in this change. In order to be able to offer innovative products with maximum efficiency for the future, we continuously invest in new methods and processes as well as in a modern and up-to-date infrastructure of our plants. Our success is not least the result of the special commitment of our employees - it is thanks to them that we enjoy steady growth.”
