Buehler is presenting a series of one-hour webinars on etch selection and microstructural identification for different metals groups. The materials will include carbon and low alloy steels, titanium alloys, copper alloys, superalloys, light metals, and more. Each webinar will be on the last Wednesday of the month and registration will be posted on the link below.
Buehler is offering "Fundamentals of Etching” the first of the series in English on February 24, 2021, 12pm CST.
Etching removes the thin, highly deformed layer introduced during grinding and polishing of the material sample preparation process. The first webinar will provide the foundation for understanding etching processes in metallography, and is recommended viewing to fully appreciate the subsequent webinars in this series.
The “Fundamentals of Etching” webinar on February 24 will cover the core principles of etching for microstructural analysis in metallography including: fundamental principles of etching, methods, microscope techniques and more.
The Etching Series is ideal for metallurgical technicians, engineers, quality control, and laboratory personnel in any metallography facility new to the area or looking for a refresher on fundamental principles. It will also benefit those working in adjacent fields such as mechanical testing, failure analysis and engineering - where metallography is not necessarily an everyday need, but an understanding of what it is and how it can be used to characterize materials and properties.
