EMAG and HPL Technologies agree on extensive cooperation in the field of hard coating of brake discs. Hard-coated brake discs are the preferred solution for compliance with the "EURO 7" fine particulate matter limits.
The European Commission published the new draft standard "Euro 7" on November 10, 2022. This standard is to apply to passenger cars and vans from July 1, 2025, and to commercial vehicles and buses from July 1, 2027. As part of the new regulation, limit values for particulate matter particle emissions from braking systems will be set for the first time worldwide. To meet the automotive industry's stringent requirements for coated brake discs, HPL Technologies and EMAG are jointly developing a hard coating system. This involves integrating HPL Technologies' WECODUR assemblies for laser cladding into the EMAG machine platform. This will enable automotive manufacturers and brake disc producers to use far-reaching benefits of rapid and sustainable scaling of production technology. At the same time, the integration of WECODUR technology packages gives the automotive industry access to the innovative and proven WECODUR coating technologies and tribosystems.
With this cooperation, EMAG is expanding its comprehensive range as a turnkey supplier for the complete process chain of brake disc production, from soft machining and laser coating to the final grinding process.
