Most of the world has a big holiday or festival around this time of year. After today many companies will be down to skeleton crews until January. I enjoyed those long breaks when my children were young and at home, but as an empty nester I think I would rather work so as to have more time off in the summer. Travel this time of year will definitely test your holiday spirit, so if you have to be somewhere, try to keep smiling.
Some of us have projects to finish before year’s end, so the week will pass all too quickly. It’ll be important to get all the information needed before the rest of the team becomes impossible to reach. She who must be obeyed discourages sending business e-mails to “people who should be on vacation with their families,” but my fellow workaholics cannot quit gears for an entire week.
So if you need your “gear fix” during “holiday shutdown” remember that the Gear Technology online archive never takes a day off. All of our content going back to issue number one is fully searchable by keyword whenever and wherever it is needed. We owe a big thank you to our publisher for insisting that even the old pre-electronic articles be included. Few academic journals can boast of this much information online and most of those sites require an expensive membership.
We hope you have a great holiday and wish you safe travels.
