Holroyd Sells Grinding Machines to Chinese Company

U.K.-based Holroyd Machine Tools and Components of Milnrow, Lancashire, a division of the Precision Technologies Group, has announced the sale of two TG 350E rotor grinding machines to a major state-owned Chinese company producing screw air compressors and refrigeration rotors with a total order value of £2 million. Commissioning of the two new machines is scheduled for January 2012. Holroyd's next generation TG Series rotor grinding machines offer tremendous potential for production improvements, given their levels of accuracy and aggressive stock removal capability. The TG Series can also reduce overall machine requirements in many production contexts and provide for different production rates and accuracies to suit the very latest manufacturing strategies. A high performance touch screen operating system provides ease of use and combines the latest industry hardware with advanced application/network systems.

The order for the two new TG 350E machines follows a number of other significant orders from China for the PTG Group, providing further evidence of the close links being forged by the company with the world's fastest growing economy. Most notable is a 30 m x 4 m gantry Crawford Swift Powerstir FSW machine, commissioned from PTG Heavy Industries of Elland, West Yorkshire in a joint project with China Friction Stir Welding Centre. This machine has played a significant part in manufacturing railway car bodies similar to those used in the Harmony high speed trainthat recently achieved a record speed for an unmodified passenger train of 486.1 km/hr or 303 mph. In fact, the machine has proved such a success that PTG Heavy Industries has now been commissioned to supply three additional FSW machines with a total collective order value of £1.2 million.

Incorporating the brands of Holroyd, Binns & Berry, Crawford Swift, PTG Heavy Industries and Precision Components, The Precision Technologies Group's range includes grinding machines for rotor, thread and gear operations and rotor milling machines and lathes producing ultra precision components to serve a wide range of industries from aerospace, marine and power generation to oil, gas, steel and high end automotive.
