Hyperion to Showcase New Materials and Services at IMTS 2022
Hyperion Materials & Technologies manufactures hard and super-hard materials for a wide variety of industries and applications, including cemented carbide blanks for gear cutting and hobbing. Hyperion will showcase its gear tool blanks and many other products and manufacturing solutions at IMTS 2022, Sept. 12 to 17 in Chicago.
These new offerings include:
- AM110, an award-winning grade of tungsten carbide rod blanks specially engineered for machining superalloys like INCONEL
- An enhanced offering of synthetic diamond and cubic boron nitride (CBN) products
- Precision Solutions by Hyperion, a new business that works with customers directly to design and produce finished, precision components made from hard and super-hard materials
“Materials science innovation, technical expertise and precision manufacturing are at the heart of what we do at Hyperion, and IMTS gives us the opportunity to share that with those looking to develop longer lasting and more accurate machine tool components,” said Ron Voigt, Chief Executive Officer of Hyperion. “We are looking forward to showcasing our advancements in hard materials and manufacturing technology, including AM110 grade carbide, at IMTS.”
AM110 tungsten carbide grade lasts up to 35 percent longer when machining superalloys
Machining superalloys such as INCONEL is highly challenging due to intense heat and pressure on the tooling. Hyperion’s AM110 grade of carbide was specially engineered to balance and optimize the hardness, toughness and galling resistance required for tooling used in machining superalloys.
Testing has demonstrated AM110 end-milling tools last 35 percent longer on INCONEL workpieces than conventional tungsten carbide grades, delivering more predictable results with fewer cutting edge breaks.
