Star-SU Previews New Machines for IMTS

The all-new Bourn & Koch 1000VBS has an innovative stroking unit that will allow users to shape spur or helical gears by simple inputs into the CNC Siemens 840D control HMI.  It has no guides, a quick returning stroking to reduce non productive upstroke time and a maximum diameter to 40" (1000 mm) with 8" (200 mm) of stroke. The cutter head is on a moving slide to eliminate fixture buildup from the worktable. It's a modern replacement for hundreds of aging Fellows 36-6 and 36-8 mechanical gear shapers.

Also new from Star Cutter, the five axis CNC controlled NTG tool and cutter grinder for manufacturing and reconditioning end mills, step drills, taps and form cutters. Key features include NUM Axium5 axis CNC with a combination of linear motor and digital servo motors, three-station grinding wheel pack and coolant line manifold changer, direct drive grinding spindle, HSK quick change wheel pack mounting system, direct drive headstock for tools up to 8" long, air purged headstock and grinding spindle, standalone closed-loop chiller for headstock and grinding spindle and more.

The SICMAT RASO CNC shaving machine, from Italy,  is designed for finishing high quality gears from 6 to 200 mm.  The RASO 200 is equipped with Windows-based software that is user-friendly, allowing operators to quickly and safely program complex shaving cycles. In addition to traditional cycles, mixed cycles (plunge plus diagonal), progressive diagonal cycles or combined double cycles can be programmed. Two standard loaders are available: the Adatto 6 with a double pocket or the Adatto 8 with a drum unit. SICMAT's automated shaving cells can be configured with stand alone, rotary or SML (linear) chamfer and deburring devices. Custom configurations are also available.
