International Gear Conference 2018

Lyon, France. Mechanical transmission components such as gears, rolling element bearings, CVTs, belts, chains, etc. are present in every industrial sector and range from nano-gears to multi-MW size gearboxes. Over recent years, increasing competitive pressure and environmental concerns have provided an impetus for cleaner, more efficient and quieter units. Moreover, the emergence of relatively new applications such as wind turbines, hybrid transmissions, jet engines, etc., has led to even more severe constraints. The main objective of this conference is to provide a forum for the most recent advances, addressing the challenges in modern mechanical transmissions. The conference includes presentations from colleges and universities in France, Italy, Germany, Sweden, United States, Spain, China, Japan and more.

Highlighted Topics

The following is a list of many of the topics to be discussed during the International Gear Conference: Monday August 27 Tribo-dynamic behavior of gear pairs, high-performance plastic gears, design and adaptive control of motor-gear systems, tooth modifications, power losses, hypoid/bevel gears and manufacturing strategies. Tuesday August 28 Contact analysis, durability/fatigue, hypoid/bevel gears, gear dynamics, tooth surfaces and metrology, manufacturing methods, gear noise, durability and fatigue, planetary gears and gear design. Wednesday August 29 Gear noise, gear dynamics, plastic gears, belts, planetary gears, gear design and monitoring detection of failures and more.

Best Paper Award

The organizing committee will hand-out an award for the best paper published in the proceedings of the 2018 International Gear Conference. This award will be given to the author(s) during a session on August 29th.
