The L.S. Starrett Co. has expanded its AVR Vision Metrology Line with the introduction of the AVR400 CNC Vision System, the largest benchtop platform to date from Starrett with stage travel that is twice the speed of previous Starrett AVR models. The stage travel is 15.8"x 11.8"x 7.9" (400 mm x 300 mm x 200 mm) in the X-Y-Z axes with a speed of up to 120 mm/sec.
Verisurf Software, Inc. demonstrated its new Machine Tool Probing (MTP) suite at IMTS 2024. The solution is designed to support in-process inspection directly on CNC machine tools. As the only CAD/CAM-based metrology software on the market. Verisurf continues to build on its heritage of intelligent Model-Based Definition (MBD) with new features, enhancements, and optimized workflows for inspection, reporting, reverse engineering, tool building, and guided assembly.
Verisurf Software, Inc. introduces a new sales platform where customers can source new and pre-owned CMMs powered by Verisurf software. All machines are calibrated and certified and include Verisurf CMM Programming and Inspection Suite software.
Tactile or contact probes are the most common metrology technique in the coordinate measurement world, including the more specialized gear measurement community. Tactile probes can be active or passive, scanning or touch only, and may vary in cost and performance depending on the system itself. They are offered by multiple industrial companies as standalone OEM products (e.g., Renishaw) or only included in their coordinate measuring machines (e.g., Zeiss, Klingelnberg, and Hexagon). Their overall performance, especially their robustness and flexibility, have led to a gold standard for most metrology tasks.
Verisurf Software, Inc. announces support for the Renishaw RUP1 (REVO Ultrasonic Probe), providing an ultrasonic thickness probing solution to automate the measurement and reporting of thickness requirements.
On the surface, it may not seem like the gear inspection industry has changed much over the last few years. Shops still primarily use either machines that are dedicated solely to measuring gears, or multiuse Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs). And regardless of which machine they use, software serves as the backbone that supports their many diverse sensors.
Verisurf Software, Inc. announces a surface finish measurement probe and reporting solution for CNC CMMs equipped with Renishaw REVO SFP2 (Surface Finish Probe). The surface finish measurement feature is included in the soon-to-be-released Verisurf 2024. Using direct output from the Renishaw REVO SFP2 probe, Verisurf CMM programming can include defined surface finish/roughness evaluation from 6.3 μm to 0.05 μm (250 μin to 2 μin) Ra with results added to automated quality reporting.
Manufacturers wishing to progress from manual metrology to using a CNC coordinate measuring machine (CMM) have a new option to consider—the new ALTO 6.5.5 from CMM manufacturer LK Metrology, Derby, UK. Appealing to the entry-point of the CMM market, the machine has guideways made from aluminium, lowering the capital cost compared with making those components from ceramic, as is the case with most LK CMMs. Several innovative design features have resulted in a surprisingly compact measuring machine, with the high accuracy and rapid throughput normally associated with more expensive systems.
LK Metrology, Inc. and the Precision Measurement Group of the Cross Company have finalized a new sales agreement that brings the LK Metrology line of CMMs and related metrology products to the Cross Company’s broad expanse of calibration labs and service centers across the Southeast and Central United States.
A new range of UKAS-certified length and form gages, complete with holding fixture, has been introduced by coordinate measuring machine (CMM) manufacturer LK Metrology, allowing the inspection accuracy of any 3D measuring platform to be verified. The user can have greater confidence in the results of an inspection, whether for metrology or reverse engineering, long after the typical annual calibration of the measuring machine has been carried out.
Gear Up for Precision will take place April 12-13, 2023. Both Wenzel and Nidec Machine Tool America, located across from each other in Wixom, Mich., will be open to visitors with displays, technical discussions, presentations, and demonstrations.
Verisurf Software, Inc. will be demonstrating a universal approach to measurement and inspection at this year’s IMTS Show in Booth #133345. Verisurf software provides measurement and inspection workflows with inspection plans that can be created once and used across the manufacturing enterprise on any portable or fixed CMM.
The Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center Research and Development (OMIC R&D) recently welcomed Capture 3D, a Zeiss company, as a member of the collaboration, now at 41 members. Headquartered in Santa Ana, California, Capture 3D is a leader in innovative optical 3D metrology solutions, including accurate blue light 3D scanners, precision photogrammetry systems, comprehensive inspection software, and high-tech automated inspection systems.
Mitutoyo America Corporation is pleased to announce the release of the Quick Vision Pro Series, the latest generation of Mitutoyo Vision Measurement Systems. This highly advanced non-contact measuring system delivers even more speed, efficiency, and versatility to the Mitutoyo Vision Measurement line.
Gear inspection has long been a highly specialized, costly investment and an overall challenging part of the gear manufacturing process. Through advances in technology and automation, this typically tedious, time-consuming process is becoming significantly
more efficient as multisensor coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) gain more traction as one of the preferred methods of gear inspection.
